How far to the nearest Starbucks or McDonalds?
1-1/2 hours,,,,,,,depending on conditions.?ÿ
Mighty:
I remember having to work in such terrible, horrible places and conditions!?ÿ ?????ÿ
Around here if you get tired of looking at the corn fields, there are the exciting soy bean fields. ?ÿ
Sometimes the fields are nice to look at.
In the 41 years I have been a registered Land Surveyor, and 4 years before registration I have NEVER been surveying on a clear site. Everything has been woods, swamps, littoral areas so thick a D8 couldn??t get through and areas with 9?? sawgrass, but never a wide open site.
And open construction sites aren??t any better. There??s always something in the way where we need to set up. I still like it though.*?ÿ ?ÿ 🙂 ?ÿ
* I'm retiring! SWMBO's choice, not mine.

You're what??? ????
Seriously, you've probably earned it. I laid off my last few employees and sold off some interests a few years ago. Even though I still do regular work for a couple of long term clients it's not near the rat-race it used to be. I'm happier now than I've ever been. I wish you luck!

I suppose the pool boy quit and she needs someone to amuse her during the daytime hours. ???? ???? ????
Yea, gonna sell it to my VP. She and two others have been with the company since it's inception 31 years ago. Her Father passed away shortly after she started working with me and over the years she has become like a Daughter to me. She has been registered in FL for about 8 years now, and runs the place completely without me. It's time for the old fart to get the hell outta' Dodge and let the young guns** have at it.
Ain't got a clue what I'm gonna do. Probably end up dragging all the hydroponic grow stuff out of the attic and grow some heirloom tomatoes, red lettuce, and Northern Lights (excellent Sativa)
And there's always Bingo, Shuffleboard and driving slow in left lane with the turn signal perpetually in the right turn position.
But just because I won't be in an office and won't be surveying anymore doesn't mean I'm leaving here. (I can already hear the groans)
Sorry y'all, My smart ass remarks will continue, much to the chagrin of many, I'm sure, until Wendell boots me off or until SWMBO kills me.

I'll pass that along to SWMBO. (you haven't been castrated yet, have you?) ????
Folks not familiar with the wide open space don’t usually relate to time/miles and close/far the same way that others who’ve dwelt with (and enjoy) it. (Sing it Merle H.) turn me loose, set me free....
And tired of too much work
And never enough play
And I'm tired of these dirty old sidewalks
Think I'll walk off my steady job today
Turn me loose, set me free
Somewhere in the middle of Montana
And give me all I've got coming to me
And keep your retirement
And your so-called Social Security
Big city turn me loose and set me free
Haven't got a thing to show
For anything I've done
There's folks who never work and they've got plenty
Think it's time some guys like me had some fun, so
Turn me loose, set me free
Somewhere in the middle of Montana
And give me all I've got coming to me
And keep your retirement
And your so-called Social Security
Big city turn me loose and set me free
?ÿ
...I can relate?ÿ

"much to the chagrin of many, I'm sure, until Wendell boots me off " - yeah - I can see you getting some time outs....

Our regular drives from Oklahoma to Milwaukee are definitely a learning experience.?ÿ The type of corn growing is usually advertised by a large sign at the edge of the corn patch. By the time we usually get to Springfield I can almost tell you the name of the corn hybrid that is growing in any given field.

Never get tired of looking at the scenery...?ÿ
