And what are you doing in Scotland? Visiting the McFrames?

Came over to attend the wedding of some friends south of London, then headed north to Glasgow, Inverness, Dunkeld, St. Andrews (later today), and Edinburgh (tomorrow).

How was the ell used? Perhaps the distance between the points of the v's at the ends? This could allow a piece of rope to be wrapped on it.

Units, and the index to that unit are fundamental to such things.

Thanks for sharing.

Perhaps the pointed V was for roasting your haggis over a fire while doing your calc's.

Or for fending off any pesky English invaders ????

I saw them live in Austin in 1987 or 1988. I can't remember if I saw them twice or whether I'm remembering a live album...but the jokes and sallies were exactly the same.
