First time to post. Hope someone can help me. Found this forum through Google this morning. I saw that some users here have Thales ZMAX GPS systems. The unit that I am using is acting strange this morning. The Micro_Z.bin file it creates has a date of January 1, 2000. The other unit creates the file with the correct date. I remember from other units that the year 2000 file means that the internal battery is dead.

Does anyone here have a manual or idea how to open up the ZMAX & replace the internal batteries?

Hi Gerry,

If you rebuild yourself, it is hard to find anyone to spot weld the cells anymore (something about federal rules). Don't attempt to solder untabbed cells. Very dangerous.

If you can't get it going, we rebuild them at our depot. I had a couple done two weeks ago. http://igage.com/legacyrepair.htm

Cost depends on if the charge controller that is shrinkwrapped to the cells is working or not.

Sometimes under $200, other times more.

Mark

Hello Mark

Unfortunately I am located in Mindoro, in the Philippines. Getting customs' form for re-entry will be a "challenge"

Appreciate the offer. My email is [email protected]

Any warnings on procedures?
Why did you change the battery?
Did you also have symptoms of year 1/1/2000 micros_z.bin files?

Thank you.
