Is there a way to cause TDS to record the precise time of each shot in the raw data?
I think its based on just time Frank.
not sure I follow what you are saying...
What I need is the precise time that a data point was recorded so that I can export all to a file to see the shot data, including time of day or time since startup or whatever.

The raw data file already contains the time stamp of each shot:

I just received my TDS Ranger (running TDS Version 4.6) data collector back from the shop and have not run it on a recent job.
I believe the settings are as such:
Under Job/Settings, go to the General tab; set the auto time stamp to 0 mins (you will receive a message to "enter an interger from 1-99"), and then toggle off the auto time stamp check box.
I believe it will then stamp every shot. At least that is how the .raw file reads when I import it through LDD3 through the data collection file reader.
Where does Survey Pro get the time from? the DC or the GPS or ____? ...that is need to know info.
😉 if I had to guess, I would guess the time/date is from the DC because it could also be used in a conventional TS role and not only with GPS... but i have no idea
JB, mine doesn't record it.
Bryan, I will try that one. Maybe that will do it.
THANKS, all.
I just checked my older model Ranger, with TDS 4.1.4, and it does not have an option to stamp every shot with a time stamp. It only has an option to time stamp the raw data at set time intervals, which only goes as low as 1 minute.
Bryan,
I tried it. it won't time stamp. Hmmm. I really wish I could cause this to time stamp my shots.
Frank, Mine is recording the time stamp with RTK shots, but only timestamps the data field every half hour when doing conventional shots.

Double drat.
Timestamping has become important to me to track work.
Thanks
Frank, are you are talking about Total Station or Robotic shots, right, not RTK?

Frank: the above address will get you to the list of Survey Pro custom export style sheets....
The GNSS or Conventional Observation report *might* give you the time for each shot...
I don't have a Survey Pro collector handy to try it out.
Good Luck!
Tom,
The online help locks up and is USELESS on Trimble site as far as I am concerned.
I am trying to do this with an S6 Robot and Survey Pro Max.
go to Spectra Precision's website....go to Field and Office Software, go to Downloads...survey pro downloads...at the bottom of the page...Spectra Precision JXL Style Sheet converter....download the sheets you want...down load the converter program...
Check your email...
Just sent you an example that shows the dates and times of GNSS points.
I would imagine that the conventional one would do the same thing.
tom, as usual, as part of your work at Seiler Instruments, I appreciate all the extra effort that you always put forth. I appreciate it, and as you know, you are the first person I will call when I get ready to upgrade. Thanks again.
Why would conventional do the same thing? Where is time data being recorded? It's not in the raw file, so it would have to be in a .job or .survey file if converting to jobxml and then exporting it with a template were to do anything. It's not going to create data out of thin air...
Joe,
Thanks, I will check that out.
