Is there a way to get Survey Pro to read simple angles an distances?
Read them from what? Could you be more specific?
Just because I'm paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get me.
None of my S series instruments have faceplates. I simply want to run a straight line and measure distances along that line without staking to line, station stake, yada yada. You know like before there was a data collector. All I want displayed is Hz Angle, Hz Distance and Delta H. No go left, come forward ....etc.
As is you were reading directly from the instrument. Trimble Access can do this and I think I remember doing this on Survey Pro at some time, but it was before robotics.
Seems to me that while you are in 'Optical' mode under 'Manage Instruments' you can select 'Manual Mode'. Might get you a step closer. Haven't tried with the S series but would be curious to figure this out for use with our S6. Have same issue using SurveyPro instead of Access to run our S6 conventionally. Maybe Lee D. knows the answer? Would like to know myself.

I use Survey Pro, 6 days a week and use just about every menu on it almost everyday for construction staking (but not with a robotic) I would say that it will not give you what you looking for. There are many times I wish I could turn vertical off on it and run horizontal only, but I have never found a toggle for it in any of the menus.
Survey Pro will give you shot data in any screen for the last shot taken but it will be Angle Rt (or Lt), Zenith Angle, and Slope Dist.
The easiest way to get it to give you HD is to stake to line and use the resulting station as HD (assuming you use your setup point as the start of the line). This will also give you the perpendicular offset from you line at said station.
That would require the gun to be constantly sending a data stream. Not a big deal if you were using the RS-232 tether, but I'm guessing you're using a Bluetooth data collector.
a constant stream of data might tax both radios pretty good.

Not really, Trimble Access does this with no problem (using the same TSCe3 collector). You take the shot and tell it what you want displayed.
It looks like this on the nivo anyway.
you can get the quick shot screen from the favourites "star" menu [7] usually or I think it appears by default if no job is open.
Hd can be shown instead of Sd by changing the settings apparently [8]
I use an S6 with survey pro. Isn't it as simple as reading the angles and distances in the Remote Control screen?

Maybe there is some sort of Trimble diagnostic software that can be loaded onto the winCE handheld?

I didn't know you could go into Survey pro without picking/creating a job. I'll have to give it a try.

Yes I think you just have to go into the settings icon and display-measure--measure only.
My tsce3 is dead and my charger is in the truck. Else I would give it a shot.
Did a couple of years on Survey pro but not a big fan to be honest.
I would be more likely to want to see a coordinate without any further complications. Only found this to be possible by recording a sideshot and tben scrolling down the results window. So lots of points needlessly recorded.
Now an access user and survey basic mode gets used a fair bit. For levels mostly.
you can do this by hitting the forsight tab. shows north east elevation
Does it update after each measurement?
eg in tracking mode a constantly updating display.
As far as I could tell the foresight/sightshot function requires you to record a point, then and only then will it tell you the ENH.
