Since I got my 4-wheeler stuck reports from the field are that there was an 18" snow, a 6" snow and a 15" snow storm moving through the area, I figure that middle of Feb. is generally the start of springtime:
?ÿ
Well, maybe not ??ÿ
I might have to get some of my old fishing buddies together and make a run up there and drag the dang thing out, they used to think that kinda stuff was fun,..........
Spring weather swings are here already...60 now, 70 on Tuesday, 3"-5" of snow and 27 tomorrow night.?ÿ ?ÿ
Take a coyote call and something that shoots flat and make it about that and not so much about the recovery.... otherwise- it??s like an out door version of ??come help me move our piano upstairs?
From experience I've found it best to NOT break out the beer until the piano is actually upstairs.... ???ÿ

Found that out the hard way last time I moved (decades ago now).?ÿ I recruited a bunch of friends from our department to help move.?ÿ My wife served bloody maries after the trucks were loaded.?ÿ The unloading became a 3 Stooges movie.?ÿ Not to self, never serve alcohol to surveyors before noon.

Yikes, that's just a mean way to put it even if it's true.

I disagree.?ÿ There's a better chance you will never have to move that particular piano again.

My go to coyote call is my metal detector, get it to squeal and the coyotes in the area will really start howling.
How did this go from 4 wheeler to piano??ÿ Either way I might need a beer while we were doing the work.
Then I could knock it over and clean it up while the work gets done.?ÿ I'm not really like that but it entered
my head like rain through a hole in the roof (Harvey).?ÿ
Which reminded me of this - WOW - This was ELO - not who I thought -
How did that get me here....
No one wanted anything to do with the weather today, they predicted a few inches, woke up to at least 6" of new snow and it's been cold and blowing, hasn't let up all day:
?ÿ
The new revised forecast, I guess it could be worse ??ÿat least it will get above 0 most days
It's 7 above now, the 17 must have happen a bit after midnight.
We got dumped on pretty good here. ?ÿCounty wide emergency travel only from the sheriff??s office. Ran the snow blower for 6 hrs because everything is choked with snow from plowing and this foot of snow needed to go up and out. ?ÿThey were predicting overnight lows in minus teens here but they revised that up to zero or minus single digits . Just hoping the wind doesn't kick up worse and blow us back closed.
?ÿMrs. File put my carhart coat and coveralls in the dryer and schlathered me up with deep blue. I'm feeling a bit less whupped now...
I would estimate 8-10", been too windy to be sure. Lots of shovelling
I was complaining to my wife that it's going to be all the way down to 35?øF when I leave the office tomorrow morning.?ÿ I feel better after reading this thread.
The mailman came to the door when I was home for lunch Friday, he was saying how nice it was to have such a warm day. I asked him if he understood that it was 25d. He said yeah but it made him want to work in shorts and a teeshirt.
most USPS route carriers are kinda out there...?ÿ not saying that it's a bad thing....
The latest prediction says it's going to be below freezing overnight. Too bad there's no predicted precipitation to go along with it. I've seen snow in this basin/valley only 2 or 3 times in the 23 years I've lived here (inland southern California).

Just a wee bit postal...
Good work there 2M.?ÿ One more thing checked off that list!
At least it was sticking out above the snow when you got back to it!
I've seen 4x4 Suburbans completely covered in drifts,?ÿleaving zero indication of their location.

If you can see in the first photo, looking north, even on the south face of the hill there is almost no drifting. This snow has fallen, melted a bit, fallen melted again, repeated that until it's a blanket. Even the buffalo grass which was really dense and high isn't poking out of this snow, only a few tall sage brush.
It's actually a disaster, calving is going on, the winter kill is going to be epic. So many ranches have leased out hunting rights to dudes, I wonder what this will do to that industry. It's going to be interesting, There will be lots of water and grass, hopefully there will be cattle to eat some of it. This is the second year of deep snow on the ranch the 4-wheeler was stuck on and they really thinned the herd last year cause the cattle's ?ÿmetabolism was so poor. I wonder if they will have any left to hit these pastures.
