I sent a crusty old crew chief out this morning to topo an open 1 acre lot with a metal building on it.

He told me he'd rather get the clap and syphilis than to have to do a topo.

Can't resist this one Tommy. Having been a college student of drippy dickey, I would take that over getting divorced. Ding dong, the drip is gone.... after a couple weeks of whatever STD killer they gave me. (circa 1975)

There are pills and then there are other means of treating the symptoms. The cause never will go away though, that is brain stuff.

Me, I'd buy the old crusty crew chief a 12 pack. May or may not have a sip or 6 and then bid him adieu. Go in the field and work with him and you may learn at least something? dunno unless you try

Drippy dickydoo is better than prescription druggy pain killer people, all though there may be a connection? We won't bring up Meth.

Wish you the best sir, and by all means be careful.

If he wasn't so good at what he does, we wouldn't put up with the cantankerous old cuss.

Sounds like one of those cake jobs that would be fun to do. I wouldn't turn it down.

Wow... a whole ACRE for goodness sake!
Lions Tigers and Bears.... Oh my!

Was it that, or the clients 2 hour budget to get it all done?

I've done a flat 10 acres site in a day, with topo, and monuments tied, I've also seen what a client called a "flat open" one acre site that could take 3 days of brushing and had 8 monuments to find, dig up, oh, and tie that bench a half mile away, and that quarter corner about half mile the other direction... oh, and brush into and tie all the fence lines ( all 8). Oh and get the well depth, and water level in the well casing too.... etc.

Honest, it's flat and open ground.... you can do this by yourself without a rodman to slow you down even! Such a deal! This week only!

😉

Dodged that bullet in college

Probably because I was married and wasn't allowed to go wandering all around. The consequences would have been much more severe than any disease could offer.

One of my buddies made the mistake of going out with Velma, the human vacuum cleaner. She left hickeys in more places than just on the neck. She also left something else that involved trips to see a doctor.

What does he normally survey that he finds a topo so beneath him?

Looking at this from afar I was wondering what this had to do with surveying. Might learn something!
My mind went to communications, telephone rates that we are so familiar with here. STD ~long distance calls.
Ah well.

Telstra's new STD call rates may leave some worse off 🙂

Your bloke must have had a very mild dose or a bad topo experience.

Highway construction is purely button pushing and stakeout.

That will develop a mindset that is hard to get away from.
