Hi guys!
I am wondering if Star*Net is going to support Feature Codes in the future.
Good day.. 🙂
Starnet is now owned by Microsurvey and the Microsurvey product certainly supports feature codes. Possibly you might see starnet functionality packaged into Microsurvey someday, but I doubt you would see the reverse happening.
I guess I don't understand that question.
How does StarNet not support codes now?
I mean if I process the raw data through StarNet it creates a final coordinate list with all of the feature codes attached to each point. Then you import that into MicroSurvey, Carlson Survey or Civil 3D and process and your software should do the field to finish at that point.
Maybe you mean you want StarNet to process the autotopo?

Yes, that's the way Star*Net has worked for years. The problem Ardel is asking about mey be related to converting some specific data collector file format to Star*Net input format.
Reformatting point descriptions to effect Field to Finish in Civil 3D is a waste of time in my opinion. Why not support SurvCE feature codes, for example, to generate line features in Star*Net. LandXML it after to universalize the data. At least, looking at the Star*Net screen with line features provides more meaningful platform than purely with points, ss lines, and traverse lines.
How long will it take for those vendors to meet somewhere and universalize Field to Finish codes?
