Hi All,

I have a Spectra Focus 10 which is essentially just a re-badged Geodimeter 5600.

It came up with the "change backup battery" message.

Unfortunately, no-one in Australia will service them anymore. (Past the use-buy date apparently)

So I sent the keyboard overseas for battery replacement.?ÿ

It came back and was still coming up with the same message but was still working.

Now when I turn it on it comes up with :

Info: 22

Wrong Dev Connec

Connection Fail

My questions :

  • Any ideas how to resolve this?
  • Are there backup batteries in BOTH the machine and the keyboard? If so, can I replace the batteries in the machine?
  • Would the machine and radio work with a different data recorder??ÿ
  • Can you recommend a USA repair company?

Thanks in advance,

Michael

Around 2016 I bought a GDM 650 DR200+ ex USA probably made around 2001, cost me around $3000 incl shipping.?ÿ I got its batteries and calibration done in NZ at just after receiving it. The alternative was $40,000 for a S6. In terms of time-chargeoutrate-myfreetime I've probably spent twice (trillions) that on the GDM and 5600's, but that's another debate, that's been well debated on this site. Then I got a 5601 (same as the 650) cheap at a NZ auction, and had the same service done. Then around 2017 all NZ and AUS shut shop on the GDM/5600 and to cut a long story short around 2016 the last positive-possible service reply I had was from:

Good luck.

Thanks for your prompt replies.

I'll get in touch with Ellerbusch Instrument Service and see what they say.

If that falls through  ... try these guys.  Extremely knowledgable.  I was getting he same message on my Trimble 5603 and he, over the phone, told me what the error code was, and what it meant.
