I'd think it should be more, but with the right circumstances, like wide open, I could do it for that. Add much brush to cut, then probably not. Add two miles of river or something, then I for sure could do it. 🙂

Well, there was about 12,000 feet following a meandering river with wooded banks. Another 17,000 feet was woods with some of it young, recent growth.

The client said that the surveyor wasn't going to start tomorrow, because it's supposed to rain. So he's going to start Monday.

Sounds like someone saw the picture of RTK in the forest and changed his prices...

What's the fuss about surveying 1/2 of a section. Especially with some fishing along the way to keep the overhead down.

Grab the old GLO map and just go for it. 5280 divided by 2 is 2640 divided by 2 is 1320. I'm done and for $9K I'd do it in my sleep. Ok, maybe while my dog is sleeping. But he drinks too, so maybe not....lol

That's how they used to do it..... :-S

Notice that it is half a section in area, but the boundary is over twice what a regular half-section would be. Must look like a jigsaw puzzle.

I don't see how they expect to cover and justify checking out and locating 41k feet of boundary.

Sounds like they are doing a monument survey and not a complete boundary survey.

I think that must be the purchase price of the property! I mean, it is TN ya know 🙂

Survey should run about $900, no?

The entire purpose of this survey is the property is being sold and Farm Credit will not loan money on it without a new survey.

If I had the time and money, I'd camp out there to catch whoever this is.

Not yet, and hopefully not ever.

My life is only allowed to handle so much idiocy.

I'd bill more than $9K just to do the research and draft a deed mosaic.

Down at the southeast corner, there is a large tract just east of the subject property. I just surveyed that tract a couple of months ago, and had to to lots of research, some of which would be beneficial to this survey.

You just can not rationalize the irrational, you can't fix stupid and you can't work for a client that either does not care or does not realize that the price that much lower than the norm just cannot be the same thing. Just priced a project "competitively" for more than 200K and someone is doing it for 58K. I would be willing to give the client a day of quality control checks for free.
