And left it outside my office door..
Here's what I found outside my office door yesterday. No note, or clue of where it came from . I checked with one likely suspect and it wasn't him....
Thadd, was it your guys?? O'Reilly maybe? R&W? Scobro's? CEC? Felco, DownCape, and that's just the guys within one towns distance from my office! (There are a lot of surveyors within a few miles of my office...)
or was it an abutter that didn't like where it was?? Good thing i had my cap on it!!
Note: Thadd, it wasn't Chet, already checked in with him!

Somebody needs a good talking too, Maybe a swift kick in the ass
I bet it was a very courteous fence builder who had to remove it to put the fence precisely where the client told him to put it.
OK OK
Don't blow up!
He he he, like a grenade!
Just be thankful, with the cost of those things, consider it "Money in the bank!"
Nate
At least it didn't wind up thrown through the window of your office or truck.
Don,
Do you think another surveyor returned it in jest? Or were they being seriously douchey? If somebody returned one of my monuments that I had set, without contacting me first, I'd be rather insulted. Are you able to determine which corner/project it is from?
Or are you taking the path of, "they replaced it with something bigger (like an 8" X 8" post") so the rod would have been disturbed anyway.
Inquiring minds want to know.
Carl
At least they didn't put it at a corner you'd never seen, just because it needed one.
I'd be willing to bet that it came up during a fencing operation, another surveyor went out to remark the line, found it, set another one, and left it as a present for you.
I would also bet, you'll never figure it out. 🙂
It wasn't me though. 🙂
Somebody pulled my pin!!> I figure
Well I'm NOT upset about it. I think it's related to a pin that was pulled a few months ago that I never did find, although I was paid to re-set it by the fence company that pulled it originally.
Or it's another surveyor/or crew that pulled it when setting something more permanent.. As a "funny" because we all know each other around here... And there are a lot of surveyors practicing locally. I've been here the past 30 years so they all know me anyway, and I've probably worked with most of them one time or another.
I think it's someone local that didn't have to go very far out of their way. Kris is most likely right, I'll never know! Just like the time I found a 16' brown trout laying in my driveway.. (I thought that I'd be 'sleeping with the fishes' after that one!)
Wasn't me....
this time...:-P 😉
That's a big brown trout either way
> .. Just like the time I found a 16' brown trout laying in my driveway..
Please tell me that was a 16 inch trout!

That's what she said.

whoops...yeah, 16 inches!!!! I wondered if an osprey might have dropped it...

OH! I thought you meant one of those brown trout that float past while dipping sewer manholes.
it wasn't me, [sarcasm]but we do have a whole pile of them behind the office. everybody seems to pull them, we just don't deliver.[/sarcasm]

Hmmm...It sounds like someone might be pulling your chain...;-)
We stamp a unique ID number on each cap that we set so that it can be identified. We have over 30,000 in a database now, and should be adding another 25,000 in a few weeks.
Somebody pulled my pin!!>Steve
Wow, that's hardcore Steve... each and every set point eh? I guess that would have helped me with my little mystery..
Somebody pulled my pin!!>Steve
Steve,
Give Foggy a link to your database...It is a work of art!
