Seco 360 Tripod Adapter

Been using this tripod adapter for quite some time and my only issue is about the difficulty in fixing its position between total station and tripod particularly during setup. It definitely requires more time setting up a total station with this accessory. As you can see, top and bottom surfaces are smooth aluminum that causes the total station to shift during setup particularly when tightening of the mounting screw.

Any idea on what (some sort of) non-slip material do I need for the top and bottom surfaces? I am thinking of using very fine sand paper but wearing off the tripod head is also an issue. I don't know. Any idea?
