just wondring what others are using.
Read this post here [msg]32774[/msg]and it concerns me that I could end up with a non responsive screen.
I was looking at non reflective but they seem to have an adhesive. I'm wary of this type.

Your shared expriences appreciated thanks.

I'm not a fan of the stick on protectors either. Had a guy one time fixing to peel the screen off of a DC thinking it had dirty screen protector. Sure the screen was dirty around the edges and it made it look like a screen protector was there. There wasn't. Can you imagine the damage there? I shudder.
Another friend suggested to just lay on a little square of regular ole kitchen plastic wrap. I've never used it but it makes sense to me.

We have used a Palm Universal protector for years and have not had any issues on both the Topcon and Carlson controller.

I've been very pleased with JAVOedge anti-glare protectors, & my collector has no keyboard, so I'm pecking away at it all the time.

When removing any screen protector, remember they're not band-aids and there's nothing to be gained by ripping them off in a big hurry. Start at one corner and go slowly. Good luck.

I would use the ones designed for your data collector and nothing else.

Here is a good tip for screen protectors that actually works. Hold the protector about 8 to 10 inches above a bottle of baby powder. VERY gently squeeze the baby powder bottle. You do not want to see powder coming out, just air with very very small statically charged particles. They will charge the protector, which will stick to the screen face quickly and with no air bubbles. Works very well and you cannot see any powder on the screen.

I have a Carlson explorer and a Leica controller, both with touch screens and I've never used a screen protector. They look just like the day I bought them, 5 years ago.

Never use anything but a stylus or finger to touch the screen and keep it clean.

I use the stick on type for our TDS Nomads and have had zero problems. They are much better than the old static stick type that came with the Recons.

I agree that the JAVOedge protectors are great. We've used a couple of other kinds and were not happy.

I've heard very good things about the NuShield screen protectors from a number of my professional colleagues. They are available for a wide variety of LCD equipped electronic devices including many survey data collectors and laptops.

thanks for comments
I did contact NuShield and they wanted to reassure me of the quality etc of their non-reflcetive screen overlay. Interestingly they hadn't heard of the Nomad 800.

I have thought of going bare but have seen my Ipaq with a couple of severe scuffs - but thats from playing games.:-(
My Tracker Extreme (Jet CE) has always had an overlay but only the non adhesive one.

I'll check what the local resellers say, but its good to get real usage comments.
