A guy called the office a few months ago wanting information on a survey done by one of my employees in the mid 1990s.

The survey wasn't done for this company but one he previously worked at.?ÿ

The guy wanted a bigger copy of a plat, but couldn't tell me what plat it was. I finally figured out what he was talking about and looked it up and it's filed at the courthouse. A nice detailed ROS signed and sealed and easy to obtain.?ÿ

He was insistent that my employee could manufacture a blown up plat.?ÿ

I asked what his billing info was and he became offended.?ÿ

Well..........

Fast forward two months and my employee's son gets a call from a different person wanting the same thing. His son is a professor at a college 300 miles away, he can't understand why these people are calling him.?ÿ

This maybe the strangest incident of people wanting free work from me I've ever run into.?ÿ

That's definitely one I've never heard.?ÿ Some people, eh?

A number of years ago I got number of calls from an out-of-state party concerning a survey I had done.?ÿ I couldn't find anything I had done in the area but the caller was insistent.?ÿ?ÿ

This was back in day of fax machines.?ÿ He finally faxed a cop of what he had been looking at.?ÿ It was a reduced copy of a survey I had signed as an employee of a now defunct engineering company in 1985.?ÿ Not a lot was readable except my license number.?ÿ I guess that's how he tracked me down.?ÿ I could barely remember even being out there, let alone any particulars.

I had to explain to him that his chances of finding a legible copy weren't real good.

What has ever given people the idea Surveyors sit around waiting to help them for free? I wonder if they try to negotiate prices or demand freebies at WalMart or the Dentist's office? ?????ÿ

@flga-2-2

Maybe they don't feel like they're getting shafted at WalMart or the Dentist.

@flga-2-2 because some people stop what they are doing and give stuff away. We provide a service and professional opinion, you will not get a signed copy of anything from my office after 1 year unless you are very good client. We may provide plats stamped preliminary from decades ago but require $150 record pulling fee.
