Polite lady contacted me Monday about a "pin-survey" on an acreage she and her husband were purchasing east of here, out by the lake.
She was frazzled. The mortgage company was requiring a survey and they couldn't close without one. Needed a survey asap.
While I had her on the phone I looked the property up and gave her some "best and worst" case scenario prices. I also told her that my 'weather permitting' schedule would put her next week. Okie-dokie..git-er-done.
This morning she called back and seemed frustrated that we hadn't been out there. I reiterated what I had originally told her about my schedule. She remembered but it just seemed to her that "we should be able to get to it quicker."
I didn't know what to tell her. I finally (politely) told her she was free to get a hold of other parties. She told me she would and I should consider myself 'off her list'.
Yes, m'am. Good luck.
This afternoon she called back. Her tone of voice had softened considerably.
"Mr. Cash, can you still put us on your schedule?"
I told her no problem. My original estimation of time schedule and fees hadn't changed. But I had to ask her what made her change her mind.
She had originally gotten my number from the abstract company and hadn't tried any other surveyors. After getting frustrated with 'waiting' she called "a number of them from the phone book".
She went on to tell me I was the nicest one she had talked to and although I wasn't the cheapest, I wasn't by far the most expensive...and I was the quickest anybody else could get out there. She heartily asked me, "No hard feelings?"
I told her none at all. Have a good weekend.
I just wish all my other phone calls this week had gone as smooth.
:good:
That there brought a tear to mine eyes.
Good post. Thanks.
BTW I just finished reading "Truman" by David McCullough. Eleven hundred pages. Have you had a look at it?
Sounds like you nailed that one. She will pass it on...
