Morning All,
Having a problem here that's really putting me in a bind. We have a tsc2 and a tsc3 data collector. Recently we got an r8 gps unit and had the software on the tsc3 upgraded for the GPS. Ever since then when i go to convert job files from the tsc3 to csv files on the computer through trimble ASC2 File Generator i get an error message "can not locate the required file convertor 0". I uninstalled and re-installed the program but that didn't change anything. It converts tsc2 files but not tsc3. What am i missing here?? ....thanks for the help!

I don't use access, but in SCS900 you export the files as a csv in the import/export menu in the program.

There is an online Trimble Access Services that you can sign up for and it allows you to convert the job files from one version to a different version; i.e., from new to old, old to new, to match the version of software running on the collector. www.myconnectedsite.com

The job file format changes with software updates.
The "Trimble Installation Manager" that updates the TSC3 software should update the computer as well.
I have problems when I use one computer to update the TSC3 and then try to download on the other computer.

Exporting CSV files from the controller is easy enough. I assume this is out in the field working and you only have the job file?

Yes, the data collector is in the field right now. For the office I'm going to try www.myconnectedsite.com as jkmonroe had suggested. I'll let you guys know if that works!

I don't know if this will cause a problem in your procedure but we normally just export a text file from the TSC2 or 3. No compatibility issues then. Export the text, then import the points into CAD. Export txt. from CAD and import them into job file.

The error message you receive is spot on - it is telling you that the Trimble program you are trying to run does
not have the converter needed for the file you are trying to process.

The ASCII File Generator installer includes the converters that were available when the installer was built - you
need to add the converters that came later.

Go to http://www.trimble.com&apos ;">www.trimble.com and follow the hyperlink path -
Support & Training > Support A-Z > Trimble Access > Downloads

Now click on the hyperlink that says "Download the Update Office Software package for Trimble Access".

From the list of options that appears, pick one having the same date or newer than the version of Trimble Access you have on your TSC3.

Save that EXE file to someplace on your computer where you can find it again, then run that file. It may be a good idea to reboot the computer after that, but now ASCII File Generator should work just fine with the newer files.

The converters are found in the folder

C:Program Files (x86)Common FilesTrimbleRemote Device ManagerConverter with 64-bit Windows or

C:Program FilesCommon FilesTrimbleRemote Device ManagerConverter with 32-bit Windows.

The ones in which you are interested are the ones beginning with "GS" as in General Survey, the part of Trimble
Access that stores points. You will have more of those after running the update package.
