We are thinking about buying this printer.

Did some googling but couldn't find out a whole lot about it - aside from a very few typically mixed reviews. Mainly wondering about ink usage. The 111 plotter I use now is very good, but a 11x17 printer I got last sucks. Seems they now put chip tech in their tanks that makes it hard not to keep buying their inks, and they are always doing cartridge maintenance stuff that uses a little bit of all the inks every time it does it. So even if you always print black & white, you still have to replace the color inks once in a while since it uses a little of it doing maintenance. And you can't print if one tank is empty, even if its a color tank & you're doing black. One reason to try to find something a bit older I guess in good shape - guess newer isn't always better.

I would never use all the web-connectivity & cloud crap it comes with, or even colour, but likely everything comes with that shit these days.

No idea on Canon stuff or how that is for ink, but Tiger Direct has a couple of those too.

Problem is, and I think I have talked about this before, that we print on mylar and copy those with an ammonia machine. We can get ammonia any more around here so will have to print 10-20 copies at the office and then send them out.

Do search on Surveyor Connect for Brother Printers. You will see a lot of love for them. I have had a MFC-J6710DW for 5 years and can't complain- just put paper and ink in it and let it go. I don't think that model is still made, but there must be an equivalent 11 x 17 replacement.

The ink on this series "Epson Expression ET-2500 EcoTank" is supposed to be a lot less expensive (not subsidizing printer with expensive cartridges) so they cost a little more.
