People who pull permits..

help me make as much money as people who do not pull permits.

We use more paper in the name of Conservation than any other permit. 17 sets of 1/4" to 1/2" packets. I cannot advise the increase in such regulations in your area; they come with headaches. Headaches come with fees...

How many projects require permits that are more expensive than work?

People who pull permits..

On a personal note, I called my zoning dept to ask about putting a portable garage near my property line. I was told I could pour a pad, and park on it anywhere on the property. But as soon as I put a structure over it (regardless of the type), it would be considered a building and I'd need to be outside the setbacks.

I could apply for a variation for 600$, put up the portable garage without the pad, or just do both and not tell anyone there was a pad inside the portable garage. I think I'll go with the latter.

People who pull permits..

Wetlands crossing permits to install a culvert usually cost far more than the actual cost for the culvert & labor.

We had a case last week where a contractor installed a complete new septic system on a new house with no permits. When it was discovered, the contractor disappeared leaving a large Cat excavator behind.

The person who required 17 sets of plans should be taken out and flogged.

People who pull permits..

Person built a deck on the shore of LI sound w/no permits. Irene came along and destroyed her deck, now she wants to put back her deck, but since she didn't pull her permit in the first place the town is making her get it surveyed and an engineer to cetify that the footing for the deck are o.k.

Probably gonna cost $5,000 for me, engineer, and attorneys fees.
More if we have to go to ZBA, State DEP,,,etc...
