Coworker is trying to get PE in California. He says that he just needs to pass the surveying portion for Civil Engineers. Can you guys recommend study material or what type of questions to expect?

It's been a lot of years but the PE I took had both horizontal and vertical curve problems. I would certainly review curve calculations.

My recollection is similar. There were definitely a bunch of curve problems, but I took the transportation option, so I would expect that. I think there may also have been some differential leveling questions and then determining the invert elevation at different stations of a pipe (basic slope calculation stuff).

Really the PE should just ask the PLS to figure it out....;)
