I had an interesting find yesterday while doing a boundary survey along the New York and Pennsylvania border.
The 79th mile marker stone.
Very cool!

Good to know that there are still monuments on the line. I saw one south of Wellsville about 15 years ago along with the initial monument for the Holland Land Company Western Transit Line.
It looks to have slipped down the hill some.
Surprised that it is not covered in pink spray paint.... ??ÿ

Ugh...so much paint. There are much less obvious ways to perform surveying without defacing monuments and property.

That would depend on if you are one of those that believes a property line follows the profile of the ground or one that thinks a property line is a horizontal line!?ÿ ??ÿ ??ÿ
Cool find Mark.
Is that stone original to the 1785-86 survey??ÿ Awesome to find a monument only 10 years out from the beginnings of the new nation.
Yes sir I do believe that is an original monument.?ÿ
Found another state line monument this morning. This one being the 82nd mile marker.?ÿ
