Topcon is running a Deal on Magnet.
Buy Magnet Software, get a free FC2600
So we bought 2 🙂

The beauty of this is that your magnet license can be copied to ANY device.

I had a Dell Venue 8" tablet (windows 8.1)
Installed and activated.

All I can say is WOW!!!!
What I thought was my gear being slow (Topcon 9005, Hiper GA's GPS) ended up
being the data collector.

For example.....

Loading the program on the FC2600: 30 Seconds
on the Dell: 2 Seconds (Instant on second load)

Staking....
It has to be seen to be believed. I din't know the robot could switch between Fine and Course in 1 second, I thought it took at least 10
Solve for a point and display measurement, NO WAIT

Starting the base takes about 5 seconds.

I have it set up with COPY (a free cloud service similar to Dropbox)
No cables to download, just turn it on with WIFI and the data files
just appear on my PC. Need to upload a file.. Stick in the copy folder on my PC and it's on the DC (Providing it's on)

Using a RAM-Mount for now. Don't like it!
I'm going to build some sort of case for it.

The Dell is not weather proof. But it cost me $199.00 and I added $30 for a
replacement if broken or anything happens.

Still doing testing, been using it for a week now and I've had no issues.

I was at my Dealer/Service shop today, and saw a MESA Tablet running Magnet Software with a network rover.

It was pretty darn slick. I found out it will run my older Topcon Robot with a Parani Bluetooth unit at the instrument.

It is very tempting. I was impressed by what I saw this afternoon.

I'm using a Panasonic ToughPad Fz-M1 with Magnet Field. As you mentioned, it is lightning fast compared to WindowsCE device such as the FC250, FC2600 and Tesla. The 7" tablet is a rugged device with 8Gb ram, and 128Gb SSD using an Intel i5 processor and comes with Win7x64 or Win 8.1 x64. There are 8hr and 16hr batteries. Cost about $2000. But can load virtually any PC program on it. Also I use Google Drive, so my files are sync'd to the cloud in real time. I have full access to all my files in the office, and in the field. No more downloads.

These Windows Tablets are certain the next generation of data controllers, and finally fast.

I use this Ram Mount for Toughpad. It works very well.

We paid $1,500 for a robotic module
and
$2,500 with GPS and everything.

And I'm running it on a $199 Windows 8.1 Tablet 🙂

The 2 FC2600's are sitting on the shelf.

I'm not sure how long the deal is going on.

The beauty of magnet is that you can transfer it to ANY device.
I had a Bing Aerial map in the background today. It was great.

You know, if that shelf looks like it's bending under the load, and you want to put one of those puppies out for loan to a fledgling student of surveying, I'm your guy!:-D 😀 😀
