Did anyone of us use an action cam or an other camera mounted in total station? I was thinking its a good idea in order to keep a video when you measure building or other special concrete structures.
I sometimes use and action cam at the pole with a special bracket. Garmin VIRB with integrated gps.
I mainly use it when measuring as-builts tot keep track of Materials, special things. I use a program for use of the video with the gpx file.(don't Remember the name, Will look when at pc)
Saved me a couple of revisited.
On the Total station itself i've never used it but it's possible.
I also tend to drive around slowly with my car for An overall view

This is actually a good idea for me. I'll try it.
There was a fellow on ebay maybe a year or two ago who was selling custom made mounts/cameras for various instruments, looking through the scope.
Or just use a Trimble S series with the video option
You can set them to record an image as each shot is taken
My instrument (MS50) has several cameras built in. When using the telescope camera it can even include cross hairs.
jim.cox i know that exists instrumenrts with built in camera i ask a specific question in the post.
Richard Imrie do you have a link to find it on ebay?
I make a search in google but i did not find anything, also beuckie post a photo to see what bracket you have..
I use a bicycle mount on my pole. I turn the camera around any way i want and just record. I use registratorviewer to look at the movies with combined gx files.
I think it was at least two years ago, I have had a look but I can't find it, sorry. I think the seller was in Europe, maybe Poland?? Maybe USD100.

Great idea. One suggestion I might add is that I absolutely WOULD NOT even dare to put a GoPro on anything I own. I regretfully have three of them, and they never have been reliable. The lastest one, a Hero 3, Black gets red hot and shuts down; batteries seemed dangerously hot. Garmin seems to have a good one. Another company, can't remember name, makes a slightly larger one that is very durable that people mount on airplanes.
I can run my garmin VIRB forseveral hours of necessary. Extra battery is needed.
