Hello,
We have a Trimble NETR5, current firmware version 48.01, Active Core Engine Version 48.01 running in Denali National Park in AK.?ÿ?ÿ
We don't know how this occurs. The offending line is the 5th one (example below).?ÿ There is an extra space bedore "REC # / TYPE / VERS".?ÿ This line is causing RINEX readers to crash, including teqc.?ÿ The FTP administrator has buildt a script (inserting a sed command) to clip out the stray space, but we need this fixed inside the RINEX header file.?ÿ
Can anyone tell us how to fix this - Stripping out one space so?ÿREC # / TYPE / VERS is left justified in the header.

That's weird!
I would just open the file in NOTEPAD, delete the [extra] space, and then save the file as xxxxxxx_e.xx0 (_e) to indicate edited.
Just be sure that NOTEPAD doesn't add a ".txt" to the end of it.

I understand from your posting that the problem exists when using a RINEX file and not during file creation. If that is the case, I would regenerate the RINEX file using teqc specifying the -O.rn, -O.rt, and -O.rv during the translation. ?ÿ
I would expect a more definitive answer from a teqc centric site. The teqc home page is: https://www.unavco.org/software/data-processing/teqc/teqc.html#executables
Also:?ÿ
?ÿ
I have sent RINEX files with the .txt added to the end, and OPUS reads it to .o18 and ignores the rest. But I agree, I open all my RINEX files just to look at my data, so simple manual editing would be no big deal. Probably less work than the administrators fix.
If you absolutely need it fixed on the first go round, then contact Trimble and don't hold your breathe. I am pretty sure the teqc site would send you to Trimble.?ÿ

GeeOddMike, Paul,
Sorry if I was unclear.?ÿ We can alter the T02 file for OPUS, but I need to know how to tell the NETR5 device to stop putting a space where its clearly not wanted.?ÿ ?ÿWe can access the device of course through the keypad or via the web browser.?ÿ But its clear, each daily file spitting out of the NETR5 is corrupt, and we need to alter the output before it arrives on the FTP site for distribution.

First of all, I am a user (and a retired one at that) of receiver data and translators. Hopefully you will get good information from this site or the teqc user group.?ÿ
Am I correct in interpreting your messages to mean that you download data from your NETR5 in T02 format, convert it to DAT then to RINEX using Trimble software?
The problem you show (on my screen the fields are not justified at all) is a blank space in the column where the ?ÿRINEX header line for receiver number, type and version entry should start.
As the three entries on this line are retrieved from the receiver (and should not be editable by the user), I expect it is a translator problem or a script problem. I used to set up scripts for use with teqc not familiar with the translator you use. ?ÿ?ÿ
GeoddMike,
Sorry about delay.?ÿ Kinda busy up here with the earthquake in Anchorage and all. I picked up the house and can reply.
To answer the question,?ÿ our NETR5 dumps daily T02 files to a UAF FTP site.?ÿ The administrator of that site has to run a script on all of our daily files produced from the NETR5 to correct for the extra space in the malformed file before posting. They are asking us to fix this issue on the device if we can.?ÿ Ideally, this would mean correcting on the device the information that is seeding into the file.?ÿ How can we do that?
The text you marked up was a screenshot from the UAF FTP administrator, so that is why the originator of the file has mislead you.?ÿ She was showing me, the malformed 5th line that is not Hard returning correctly and hence the RINEX is not left aligned properly.
Again, the FTP administrator has a script to fix this file on a daily basis, but we want a properly formed RINEX file to be formed in the NETR5 itself which is then pushed daily to them.?ÿ We pull the file for post processing in Pathfinder office workflows as a community base station - the only one in our Alaska National Parks.?ÿ
This was not a problem with the previous NETR5, so i'm thinking we have a space or improper text in a field that we can populate on the NETR5.
I hope you are doing well and recovery will be underway soon.?ÿ
As for the issue you raised. I note that the receiver users guide linked below:
https://www.positioningsolutions.com/Trimble/extras/NetRSReceiver_111A_UserGuide.pdf
Addresses conversion of T00 files see: pages 80-82 (print); pages 88-90 (pdf numbering). It mentions the creation of configuration files to supplement the data normally logged by the receiver. Have you checked this file??s contents using a plain text editor?
i take the liberty of posting screen captures of the three pages mentioned above.
?ÿ
Thanks Mike!,
I did read the support note, not really picking up the reference for NRS applied to the NETR5.?ÿ This looks like what we need to do, running the T00 files into DAT using the Trimble software, then do the appropriate editing to clean the line up so it will pass.
I'll get with the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) and have them switch off the script that cleans on their end, and go from there.?ÿ?ÿ
This is something I can do remotely too which is nice.?ÿ The reciever is in the basement janitor closet of a Visitor Center located in Denali National Park which is a 5 hour drive north for me.
I'll keep you posted, but You have pointed the way.?ÿ Thanks again.?ÿ?ÿ
I would use the trimble utility convert to rinex. This would take the t02 file and convert to the proper rinex version. https://www.trimble.com/support_trl.aspx?Nav=Collection-40773&pt=Trimble%20RINEX It will allow you to do multiple files at once as well.
