Hi,
I'm just transferring points to txt lists. I've noticed a difference in elevation between 2 files when choosing a "file style".

I use the dutch version and jou can choose 2 elevation types : z or z. In the English version you can choose between "Elev" and "Ell ht".

Apart from the stupid error in the dutch version which is extremely dangerous (all elevations are 0,2m down) i find this very confusing. In the txt file every point should have it's measured height (pole height calculated of course).

I've send this complaint to Topcon Belgium to process. Doesn't this get tested. The most critical info in a survey is almost always the height.

With the file styles : why isn't it possible to add the note field to the export?

Greetings,
LIeven

The Elevations and Ellipsoidal are are two complete different heights. I have never seen a problem with elevations in my exports.

YES you can to export the NOTE's from Magnet. You should use Export >Points >Format: Text Custom Report. Then select the Code style and now add your notes.

Ieegreen is correct, the two options you mentioned are elevation and the other is Ellipsoidal Height. most of the time you will always want the export elevation or ortho.

as for the notes:
choose format - Topcon Text Custom
Create a file style or modify an existing
Mine is set to Name, N, E, Elev, Codes, Notes

If you don't see that option, then maybe you have an older version or magnet field? mine is 4.1.2
I'm just starting to get into magnet field more because I'm switching my crews to all Topcon, so I'm not sure if that's always been an option or not.

i attached a screen shot.

Did you solve this, is the 0.2m error due to the ellipsoid/elevation selection or is this yet another serious bug in Topcon software?

Our older Topcon units would jack up the base height from time to time. As I recall it was defaulting to slant on bumper rather than vertical to arp. I thought that was a Carlson thing though...

I think what Beukie is saying is that in the Dutch translation the elevation and ellipsoid height are helpfully labelled as Z and Z.

Furthermore there is only 0.2m difference between them (in his location) so it would be very easy for the difference not to be noticed... Until it is too late...

It has happened in the Dutch translation. I've set it to English. Over here we use Elevation, never ellipsoide height.

I would be nice to configure averything to ones needs and throw away unnecessary stuff (viewalble) such as all the export formats i never use... Just a custom view of my workflow.

Apart from these glitches i rather like the software but find a lot of things more convenient in Carlson Surv CE. Drawing circles in the map menu, distance from point perp to line, easy command to find free point numbers in measure mode, ...

@Brain : I'm installing 4.2.1 right now, was on 4.2

How is Carlson Surv CE? is it good? I am currently using magnet field in the field and carlson in the office. I find magnet to not be so suited to the needs of carlson. It needs to iron out alot of kinks but they seem to be taking their time
