I just received word from the AR Board that I was approved to take their exam. I can make arrangements to test any Monday or Friday. I am planning on doing this in the next few weeks, depending on work schedule. I haven't made up my mind whether I am going to fly or drive out, but does anyone have any recommendations as to where to stay and what to do while I am in the city? A 2 hr exam leaves a lot of time to kill.

Did you find out by mail or email? They told me it would be on the 10th before I heard, but I haven't heard anything yet...

I was told that the board would meet on the 10th and I could call the next day and find out if I was approved or not. I called this morning, they told me I was approved, then sent me an email with all the info I would need.

Little Rock Hotels

I have stayed at La Quinta downtown a few times. Nice hotel, not 5 star, but fits my needs, budget wise. It has a shuttle to go to the downtown restaurant/bar area or airport, if you fly. You can also walk downtown, but it is about 10-15 min walk. I found a few good places to grab a beer and some dinner. The Flying Saucer has about 100 beers on tap, if you are into that. There is a club that has live bands and I got to see G Love and Special Sauce one night. Which was a really good show. I spent most of my time working, so I didn't have much time to explore. My two cents. Good Luck and enjoy LR.

Congratulations!

And remember, if at first you don't pass, then you get to go back & enjoy the town another time.

Breathe in & breathe out, relax, try to enjoy yourself & good luck.

Arkansas State Specific Exam

If you end up needing a review course for the exam, the Arkansas Society of PRofessional Surveyors has been putting on a good review course, usualy taught by Dick Elgin at their conferences. You can check their website at http://www.arprofessionalsurveyors.com/ to see when the next conference is, and if they have a reveiw course scheduled. The fall Short Course is going to be at Mt. Magazine State Park this year. That is always a good place to attend a conference.

Just called and I was approved! Man the ladies that work at the board office are very soft spoken... I could hardly hear her, but they were all very nice and helpful.

Yes they are softspoken and very nice. It is refreshing to meet people like that, as opposed to the person who you can tell from their voice hates their job. They seem to be on top of things as well. I submitted this application mid-December, they confirmed it was complete within a week, and I was approved in less than a month (a month that included 2 holidays). The KY board was on top of things when I applied there as well. I took the KY test at 9:00 one morning in September and I was informed that I passed before close of business same day.
