Boston Dynamics Robots

Can you imagine an integrated Robot, Robotic Total Station, GPS, Lidar, and it can even carry on a conversation with the remote operator, who is in the truck, or office 1/2 way around the world?

Wonder what one of those looks like after being skewered by horns on a 2000 lb bull at full speed.

I think I have seen a couple of movies along those lines and they didn't end well for the human race.

Let me know when it can cut line through salal, vine maple, or himalayan blackberry thickets. How does it do in a swamp...

I've yet to see video of these things walking through remotely difficult terrain.?ÿ I mean apparently they can't even do high grass??ÿ I have no problem walking around smooth terrain all day myself; what I need is a robot to snap branches and push through gnarly thick brush and take edge of water shots along a river all day like I was doing today...

I believe Nate has it correct in that it will be useful as a supplemental helper.?ÿ Just as one still needs to ground truth drone data, it will help you acquire data but you will still need some boots on the ground to verify it.?ÿ Or, at least, you should if you value your license/reputation.

?ÿ

Keep in mind that though the product seems fantastic, companies keep buying and flipping Boston Dynamics as I believe they are having difficulty monetizing them to the amount the owner's believe they should be receiving:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boston_Dynamics#History

?ÿ

And there is already competition on the horizon that does not have Boston Dynamics "lease only" requirement (reference the blowback on the New York Police version and their military contracts).?ÿ I do not think the lease terms have changed yet, but I have not looked into it recently.

?ÿ

The Alpha Dogs are priced competitively to "roll your own:"

?ÿ

No idea on Unitree's pricing yet:

I've been exposed to quite a bit of drone and scanning work over the last year and the main thing I've noticed is that it sucks up all of the easy/relaxing field work and leaves the crappiest work for the humans.?ÿ I'm definitely looking forward to the robot that takes the miserable work off my hands.
