Controllers today running Windows, Android are increasingly combined with decent cameras. I want to leverage this capacity to scan my notes each night storing the files onto the controller as a backup if the notes were ever lost, destroyed.?ÿ Yes, I'm a bit anal on this.
Any recommendations surveyors for this practice?.?ÿ I have TSC7's (Windows 10) but also a TDC600 (Android 8).?ÿ Is there an App you guys and gals recommend?
Thanks for the opportunity to ask the community who have convinced me over the years that note taking with a pencil is something I'll never forget to do - ever.?ÿ
I would try Microsoft's Office Lens.?ÿ It's available fo windows or Android, will frame the photo for you,and will save your pages into a PDF.?ÿ There is a page limit of 10 or 15 pages, I'm not sure which, but if it's just for backup purposes, multiple files shouldn't be a problem,. How often do you have more than ten pages in a day? It's free app and works pretty well.
Another option might be Adobe Scan, though I haven't had much time to play with it.?ÿ I'm not sure if it is available as an app for windows.
Cam Scanner seems to work, but does something to the photo formatting that makes it hard to copy the pages as images from Adobe reader.
With the TSC7, I would just take pictures and attach them to the control point used.
We scan notes for each job with the copier, it's the fast way to do it, you could set a dated tree up under each job#. I can't see a field scanner doing it as fast as directly putting it into the job file with the scanner.
I like CamScanner. Turns photos into pdf and can email directly from app. Great for field notes and receipts.?ÿ

I downloaded CamScanner and tried it for a bit, then tried TurboScan on a recommendation from an associate- ended up staying with TurboScan.
We just photograph them. I used to photograph old docs in the Recorder's vault when the world was different...they were clearer than any copy I could obtain. I even paid some offices the copy fee to allow me to.
Office lens on Android phone works great for me, quicker than turning on the printer each time.

Tried abode scan app too but had to fight it to save locally rather than cloud so gave up.
Thanks everyone.?ÿ?ÿ
I'll keep watching entries.?ÿ On my TSC7's, I've tested Microsoft Lens - works well and the camera app on the TSC7 is plenty capable of photographing two pages of a standard surveying notebook once you enable the app to utilize the camera. Scanning docs to PDF, and throwing them into my surveynotes subdirectory under a TBC/TRW project works great. Great tip.

On the TDC600, its new to us (Android) but the Tiny Scanner app isn't bad with OCR, so its been a snap to convert to PDF and then slam the text into fairly readable word docs.?ÿ Cursive recognition sucks, but I'll just have to get over that.

thanks everyone.
