could you elaborate on this more? thanks!
any idea how to prevent this from happening haha.......
Do you have power near these points?
some of them yes..............i think it could be arranged
What about pipe heat cable

Could you build a box to put over these set-ups, when they're not being used?
Just a thought; I've never had this problem, so I could be totally wrong...
If you can get power to it then you could use a reptile heating pad and a terrarium glass bowl. Maybe?

Made the same choice with the Leica GRZ4. We run 2 Sokkia robots, 1 Leica & 1 Focus. All on Carlson exempting the Leica, that's on Captivate.

Tr̬s chic.

I lied, they are GRZ122's...
Next project I think I will mount the Sokkia ATP1's, shorter and thinner so hopefully less subject to wind. The price is just hard to swallow.
There is a knock off ATP1 for I think less than half The price made by Adair or Site Pro I have not used, tested, or seen one in person. It may be worth checking out or the tdr360 a 360 degree retroreflective target may be worth looking into.
1st I've seen that tdr360å¡, interesting product @ a great price. I wasn't able to find a spec on the ppm but I'd worry that with such a large offset (76mm I believe) it would incur some error when hitting it from steep angles or it lost a little plumb in the wind.
Sokkia also sells a 'Builders" 360å¡ that sells for $700 å±, less than å? of the ATP1, the ADIRPro is $400, again, can't find specs on these either.
GRZ122 & ATP1 both are both spec'd @ å± 2mm + 2ppm
I would worry about the vertical component of the tdr360 as well I have always thought about covering a thin rod of some sort with a tape target then figure the offset
I've seen bad things happen with target sheets shot @ steep/shallow angles, also with sheets shot in a "reflector less" mode. I also rely on the ATR/AutoPointing of the Leica/Sokkia respectively for long shots, consistency in any kind air condition she is far beyond my eyes ability.
The one nice thing I find about targets is that they can be had very inexpensively less than $1 each with the cross hair silk screened or later printed on and you can put enough out to overcome a lot of the steep/shallow issues. That may be partially due to the target mode on the Sokkia robots where it will not shoot true reflectorless only objects with a certain amount of reflectivity this mode also forces you to do angle only on very shallow angled shots to targets.

Our Sokkia's ( a DX & a SX) have a Target Sheet mode and a reflectorless mode, Leica MS60 has a Reflective Target mode. Both will shoot a reflective target at greater range and a shallower angle than our Trimble 5603 which often has to be switched to reflectorless which in turn scatters the laser everywhere, making precise distance measurements a real hit or miss.
Very neat project, thanks for sharing.
I did notice that the excavation portion of the project was just like many of the ones I have worked on. Once you are down in the hole there is equipment everywhere, all trying to run over your stakes.
