I returned to surveying after a 12 year career swerve by taking a Gov't position about 5 years ago. I recently left the Gov't. position for a private firm. I've read all posts that caught my interest over the last 4 years and I feel like it has helped prepare me for the move to the private sector.
Thanks to all of you that I will likely never meet in person but gather here to discuss topics such as grid vs. ground, construction staking, monument recovery, safety, professionalism, etc. I particularly enjoy pictures from the field from Penry, Moistner and others.
I think more than anything as I was considering the move I realized how narrow my focus was becoming professionally. I know I will be better prepared for the type of work that I might need to do in my 50's, 60's and hopefully in my 70's.
Good luck, and keep striving to learn.;-)
