Good evening,
I'm new to Carlson SurvCE and used it to run a small RTK topo survey in my area using Topcon Hiper Pro receivers. I've downloaded the data into my desktop computer, and am reviewing the raw data in Carlson Survey. A portion of the RW5 data file is excerpted below. I would be very grateful for some review of this data, particularly as relates to base and rover height.
The base receiver was set up on a fixed height 2 meter tripod, over a point with known coordinates (PN1). The rover was set up on a fixed height 2 meter rover rod.
As far as I know, I entered the height of the base and rover receivers while in the field as 6.5617 feet. However, upon reviewing the raw data file, it looks like somehow a height of 6.909 was either entered or calculated, but I have no recollection of anything related to this in the field.
After setting up on the base, I completed a check shot (PN29) on another point with known coordinates (PN2). The check shot compared favorably, within a few hundredths or so.
Based upon what you see below, does it look like there was an error made with respect to entering the base or rover heights? If there was an error made, does that likely mean that the elevations/heights of the surveyed points are off by 0.3473 feet? If that is the case, what method do you suggest to correct the error?
I would very much appreciate any assistance on this matter, and apologize in advance for my apparent ignorance. Looking to learn. Thank you.
Big Al

It might be showing the height to the Antenna Phase Center.
6.5617 feet [sarcasm]WOW you are a good measurer![/sarcasm]
Just joking.
you would have to review the specs for your unit, and the settings for Carlson, but it appears that your 0.35' closely matches the 105.9mm L1 phase center offset. Might have something to do with that?
Best way is to just call or email Carlson. They are smart and very helpful.
This makes sense. I didn't recall entering the 6.909 height and the difference appears to be almost exactly the vertical offset between the ARP and the antenna phase center.
Thank you!
Yes, I checked the manual for the Hiper Pro, and the distance from the ARP to the L1 phase center is 105.9 mm up.
