> ..... until the fiscal cliff is solved I don't think folks with money will do much....
I hope you are right because I'm confident that something will be done on or about December 31st. It's been 5 years. I can do another 5 weeks standing on my head.
Oh well, everyone knows the world's gonna end in about one month anyway!

Not the 21st of Dec.
Oh Crap- :bored: :excruciating:
Been working 7 days a week this whole year.
But, not enough to make up for the last 4 lousy years.
I am hoping its going to last somewhat, but I doubt it.

Don't hold your breath. That person, who ironically was a proponent of removing the P&R category, has been temporarily banned for starting a politically-charged thread. LOL

A little overwhelming from our oil and gas clients. It is becoming less about surveying and more about shuffling data for leases and permits. I fell more like some low level clerk. Might be selling out completely soon and go full time with one of these oil companies. Very tempting. May require yet another move for the family but the compensation is enticing.
It was really busy. Three weeks ago I was ready to drop from overwork, some of it from a shopping center where they wanted 10' grid elevations because the drainage was so subtle and the neighbors were complaining.
Not to be political, but work dropped to zero with the election and that is a fact.
Work load is fine.
BUT
Profits are down. Folks call the other surveyor, if I price them where they need to be.

We are overwhelmed.
We have three crews running again tomorrow (Sunday).
I've been working 7 15's for four years...aside from an occasional wedding (mine), funeral (I might have one of those soon too 😉 ), or holiday.
I hate to admit this in a public forum, but I'm feeling burned out. I realize others aren't as fortunate, so I try to keep plugging away. Reciting 'Rocky Balboa' lines seems to help is this regard.
IMO if surveyors are willing to travel to an oil/gas area (ND, OH, WV, PA, etc), they can stay as busy as they want. It takes dedication though...Monday-Friday schedule is not an option.
Good luck to everyone.

Good! Tell him to be a little more polite too!
If the politicians owned a construction company, they would get
on top on the cliff and then keep piling up dirt on the cliff
even though most of it would fall over the cliff.
Same here, lots of residential work, some clients building multiple homes or apartments to get the low interest rates locked in and at least want stuff underway before December.
From Wednesday on the phone has pretty much stopped ringing. As the new guy just hired, it worries me a bit as you might imagine. The good news is there is already a lot of big stuff on the board, will keep two crews going through January.
The problem is I really need it to be three crews......:-(
Busy as ever here, booked solid through the new year(even hired some new field help last month) and beyond both in the field and in the office. In fact, I haven't been this busy since 2009.
