Similar symptoms...

Back in the day we used to turn off sats because there was too much info going from the base to the rover when there were "to many up".

I would try turning off some of them or better yet increasing the elevation mask when there are a bunch up there.

The base sends packets of info to the rover and if there is too much info being transmitted, then the system can "lock-up" because there isn't enough time to process the data before the next packet gets there.

This problem will probably start showing up as there are more sats up and we go to narrow-banding which will reduce the amount of data that can be sent quickly. That is why Trimble has gone from CMR to CMR+ and now the new CMRx data file format in an attempt to srink the size of the data packets and speed up the processing time. I don't know how Topcon handles this but Trimble has an option in survey styles where you can pick CMR or CMR+ for the data format. If you pick CMR you will really have problems when a number of birds are up.

I have a friend and his problem sounds the same. He found that the fix was that the center of the antennae was not touching the base center very well. He solved the problem by very slightly bending the antennae center wire just a little bit off center. That way when it was attached to the base it had firm contact with its mate.

ultimately a simple fix.

You can turn it off in the DC (survey pro or topsurv) Or you can connect with PCCDU and kill it from there.

Check that you a getting an L2 signal, I have come across several sites where there appears to be some sort of signal jamming or loss, as the sv's are visible, but there is only an L1 signal being received.

Check the sv status, you will see the strength of both the L1 and L2 signal. In Rtk mode you will not get a fix without an L2 signal from at least 5sv's.

I have been unable to determine what causes these signal problemns, my suspicion is local microwave repeaters used by telecom companies.

I have returned to these sites at other times , with other receivers and the same problemns occur,so I am convinced it is a signal problem.

I second that... I once set my base too close to some radio gear, and it was a lost day at work. STRONG CLOSE signals interfere. Maybe the Radio Nazis, from lightsquared were practicing! 🙂

SETTING THE RTK FORMAT TO RTCM3.X SEEMS TO GIVE ME THE GLONASS ONLY AND I GET A FIX THAT HAS BEEN WORKING FORM ME FOR THE ENTIRE DAY SO FAR.

SEEMS AS IF THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE GPS AS I AM WORKING WITH ONLY GLONNASS BUT CANNOT GET GOING WITH GPS SVS.

WILL UP DATE LATE AS TO HOW WELL I AM GETTING THROUGH AND IF I AM ABLE TO GET THE GPS SVS TO WORK.

Hiper Pro not tracking gps satellites during day

Why would my Hiper Pro Base not track /receive GPS sats during the say while the rover tracks those sats during day and night?

Any suggestions.

The system works perfect between 8 pm and 8 am. Occasionally during the day for a few minutes.

Change geography, and see if that fixes it.

I suspect local activity. Even an electric motor, can give off loads of RF.

Hiper Pro Base Blue tooth not connecting

Hi Folks,

Thanks for the assistance all gave. After spending about $3000 with an authorised topcon repair agent and months of down time nothing worked.

Before discarding the equipment I got a local technician who never saw this equipment before but discovered that the connection to the dome was loose and when the system got warm it arched away and lost contact. He simply placed a pop sickle stick in the system to ensure the connect stayed. Worked perfect.

New issue,

My Base unit bluetooth won't connect. Rover is fine and works perfect.
I downloaded and reinstall the btmain and btload drivers and managed to get a connection for a few seconds which disconnected before I got to start the base. Tried this a few time but same results.

Anyone know how I can connect my FC-2000 to my Hiper Pro by cables to start the base and auto position?

I am using Top Surv 7 Data collector software.

Thanks

Hiper Pro Base Blue tooth not connecting

No kidding.

We had a HiperXT base and Hiper+ rover that just started to refuse to fix one day. Static still worked fine. The geriatric FC200 didn't help the situation. We traded them in for a Trimble R4-3 GNSS base and two rovers and that ended that problem. The Topcon electronics just seem to fail after a few years and they want many thousands of dollars to fix them. I find the Trimble gear to be much less frustrating to use. The FC200s were junk from day one.
