What do you think of this setup.

A Topcon 2500 using Carlson SURVCE to run a Leica Rover?

Out NYS network is currently using Leica GPS as our bases.

Thanks,

Forrest

Why not just use the Leica Viva controller?

Money!

I spoke to a local rep and he said the Leica might not be the best choice, maybe a Sokkia.

Am I to assume then that you already have the equipment in your first post, or is that a shopping list?

If starting brand new from scratch, then I would get ALL Leica or ALL some other color, mixing and matching always seems to run the risk of not playing together quite as well as one hoped.

Internally, the Leica and the Sokkia might be the same, not sure since Topcon and Sokkia merged, but a few years back NovAtel which is owned by Leica's parent OEM'd the boards for both Leica and Sokkia, didn't mean they were identical, but they were designed and built by the same factory.

Not sure why the Sokkia recommendation over Leica other than it probably costs less.

Leica recently worked with Carlson so that SurvCE could fully operate a GS10/15 unit. This a new development in the last month or so. I have been successfully testing it in a Leica network for several weeks. I even have SurvCE loaded on both a CS10 & 15.
