Thanks for your advice! How would I get the right scale factors?

> The bubble level on a range pole is inaccurate, even when it is dead centre the pole is not vertical over the point.

This statement is no more true of all poles and bubbles than is the companion assertion that using a tribrach will ensure plumbing accuracy. A well-built and well-maintained pole equipped with a 10-minute or better bubble is every bit as accurate as a similarly built and maintained tripod/tribrach combination.

NGS Geodetic toolkit under State Plane coordinates is one way.

Or set your project to the appropriate State Plane zone in the controller then you total station work will be automatically corrected for you.

Thank you for the kind words, Kent. But if it hadn't been for my time among the Sooners I wouldn't know as much about RTK as I do.

Go To College, You Have Too Much To Learn

This is an arrogant and idiotic statement. This is a discussion board. The guy came to a board of professionals to gain information and for the most part he got great information. He isn't even the crew chief and is asking great questions!

College wouldn't hurt but he's on the right track and I applaud his willingness to ask the questions and not just accept what he's being told by his supervisors.

Kent...

> Norman, you consistently give such good advice that I wonder whether it's time to ask Wendell to update your user name to Norman Oregon or at least Norman Route66.

...don't try stripping us Okies of some of our only good press, dude. Mark's a good native son...uh...well maybe a good native step-son. 😉

I might be inclined to ask Ty-O to change his name to Tex-O.

LOL on the Ty-O. Norman Route66 has already spilled the beans that he's spent too much time among the Canadians to ever settle in Okieland without a twinge of regret based upon his experience of life in more rational, less Appalachian-immigrated quadrants of the universe. Of course, being the only owner of Star*Net in Oklahoma and not having learned how to hot-wire a car at age eleven could not have helped his acculturation, either.

I dont find it arrogant at all. This message board is not the place to teach GPS 101. There is simply too much the OP doesnt know. I would highly recommend a vendor supplied course in RTK and GPS. An online college course could be useful. We can answer questions here but "How do I use GPS?" is too much for a message board. There is a lot of good answers but as you can tell, the OP won't gain much knowledge here, because of his inexperience.
