The office closed at noon because 99% of our clients left their offices 2 hours ago. One hourly guy who wants the hours will stay here and answer the telephone in case something important comes in. Administrative staff has left, the other RPLS has left. I'm leaving. Have a great weekend. Enjoy yourself and play safe. Sometimes those fuses burn quicker than you think and it really is easier to survey with all your fingers intact.

Use to work in a "satellite" office in Oklahoma City. The main office was in Tulsa, managed by the 2nd. generation owner, a retired Lt. Col. in the U.S. Army.

Every Friday, and any day prior to a holiday he would call at 4:45 PM for usually no reason at all. Quitting time was 5 PM, of course to him, that was 1700 hrs.

There were five us in the office and we would draw short straw to see who was going to stay and answer the call from the Colonel. He never failed to call, and we never failed to have someone there to answer. B-)

Everybody have a safe holiday. In remembrance of the birth of our Great Nation you should detonate the ordnance and explosives of your choice...and torch the flesh of any animal you see fit.

And hug your loved ones.

If he'd been a Sergeant you would have all been on speaker phone:^)

Good thing he never asked to anyone else... 😉

And the phase my father always got a laugh at: Celebrate our country's Independence Day by blowing up small pieces of it for entertainment.

Have a great 4th!

Not too far off. But in reality isn't geeking out on beerleg.com kinda sorta like working, only funner. Generally most of us learn and absorb something. Even if we forget the next day, we know the resource to learn it again....

My big contribution to my learning curve today was being acknowledged that I have a seat at the NGS sponsored 2 day OPUS - Projects seminar in Las Vegas next week. And it's "free"...lol. Now I have to find a room downtown somewhere, and I'm thinking Fremont St.

Now I think I'll go take that nap... 😉

I really need to straighten out my priorities. I've been running around like a nut today trying to get things done before the long weekend. Just came back in to the office and just about everybody has gone home already.

A nap is sounding good though.

And don't forget to take the antennas off of the machines. They tend to walk off real easy over a long weekend.

already home. spent the morning clearimg poison ivy for two hours just to get 20 minutes worth of shots. though the cool, damp spring and summer has been nice, i'm about sick of all the vegetation that's enjoyed it too. don't recall ever seeing so much poison ivy in the past 17 years.

now i just gotta nurse this beer before the company party downtown...

I'll probably come in for a few hours in the early A.M. to get something done while its quiet. If the parade gets too noisy I'll call it a day and head home...

Cheers!!

I'm mostly goofing off today following dental surgery at 9:00 this morning. Cut open gum, drill hole in jaw, screw in implant, thread in post, stitch up gum, wait 2 months, then crown. (No, I didn't do it myself.) Not too uncomfortable now - in fact, I'm sitting at an outdoor table at my favorite downtown hangout drinking iced tea - but earlier today the novocaine (or lidocaine or xylocaine or whatever they use) numbed out my throat to the point that I couldn't swallow, or at least couldn't tell if I was swallowing or not. It was a very unpleasant sensation that lasted a good hour before the anesthetic wore off.
