I realized today that my Filson vest has reached the end of the line and thought I'd just order another one. Having bought them from Filson about every year or two for roughly 25 years, I thought it would be easy to log onto their website and just order another one. It seems I thought wrong. The delivery date quoted is after 01/01/2015.

Apparently the folks at the sewing machines are busy with other things at the moment. My guess is they are probably sewing $500.00 shooting jackets or $750.00 whatevers for the hunters among the hedge fund managers. Who would have ever thought that you'd have to hunt for someone to pay $125.00 to actually send you a moderately good quality canvas vest with a few pockets?

A "few pockets"? That thing looks cool!
Might pay a few bucks more, but Amazon seems to have pages of 'em.

So go the Hanks Clothing website which has no shipping charges and a 2 day delivery. I just can't believe the price for a simple Filson vest. But then I guess I'm not making that whopping $2.88 and hour anymore either.

I had an orange one years ago and had issues with the buttons pulling through the fabric-but it wasn't tin cloth. I ordered a tin cloth jacket from them several years ago in early December, and it arrived in March. It is bombproof and was worth the wait.

I have a Filson Tin Cloth coat and to be honest, I'm not that impressed. I wore a couple of small holes through the sleeves after a few years of use. They also say how water repellent it is, but even after putting their goop on it after a years use, it still doesn't really keep rain out that great. Its good stuff, just not worth the extra cost in my opinion.

There wool stuff is another story, very top notch.

I have a size 46 (tan Style 8) probably from about 1997 with very little wear. It's not ripped or worn through anywhere, a couple of small stain spots.

$40 and shipping and it's out the door. Let's just say I need about a size 48 at this point.
