I took out nice big plugs to expose the rear the corners in this well maintained retirement community, then went about my business of setting up the gun and data collecting ... by the time I had worked my around to the back yard, both sod plugs were missing. Never saw another person outside.
Look more closely. It may have been the Plug Fairy. You may find a quarter or other coins left behind where each plug was setting.
Haven't ever had my sod plugs stolen before, but I have seen freshly laid sod rolled up and stolen from a park in a very poor neighborhood once....
It was me. I felt I needed more grass....
steal them? no, but I have had someone pop out while I went to get my equipment and cover the holes back up before I could even measure the points. I just laughed, and looked around. didn't see anyone, but i'm sure they were watching.
We uncovered a control monument well within the ROW in the front of a house. Lady came out screaming at us, saying we need to get off her land. She thought we were from the sanitarians office for a leaky septic system. We explained we had no interest in her property, only the monument, and she calmed down.
We went away to run control and came back about an hour later to find the plug replaced, the grass watered and grass seed all around it.
I now have a new hobby......
