Labeled as politics, I know, but it has to be discussed.

Wow!!! Does that mean that you'd need a CFED to survey a lot in Riverton if the ruling is upheld???
ONLY if a Tribe asks for it. It is voluntary, not mandatory...
No; almost no surveying on tribal lands is done with CFEDs, yet lots of it gets done, tribal people can decide how things work and pay little attention to federal types.
The thing in Riverton is an ugly situation, very nasty.
Locally, I see a very deliberately close working relationship between environmental groups, Indian tribes, and certain federal agencies.
This does not suprized me in the least. There are trillions of dollars at stake throughout the different projects.
I will leave it at that.
No, partner, it does not have to be discussed.
Why would you think it would?
What, are you dense?

Oh boy. Now, not only do we have the BLM determining boundaries, now the EPA is getting into the game.
The Navajo tribe, which is the largest in the U.S. recently announced publicly that it believes it has the right and power to condemn State lands in the states in which it is located...
I know some tribal boundaries were surveyed then later readjusted, I've found stones along one that was quite a distance from the modern day line, also the 107th was "corrected" by the feds not all that long ago, a terrible decision, not sure it was legal, but it seems to be sticking.
Do We Have Other Indian States ?
I was aware of reservations and tribal law, but are they states?

Do We Have Other Indian States ?
Recognized Indian tribes are domestic dependent nations with a degree of sovereignty. They are not states.
Do We Have Other Indian States ?
As MightyMoe and I are closer than most to the situation...pun intended...this is a jurisdictional issue being shirked by the EPA and the truth may never be revealed. :-O

Do We Have Other Indian States ?
Got to give it to them, probably the most creative CYA I've ever heard of|-)
Do We Have Other Indian States ?
Several claim they are "Sovereign Nations".
Is A Sovereign Nation A State ?
Possibly we have to parse the words.
Do Indian Nations issue license plates?
Indian Nations have separate courts, do they have separate halls of records?
Could an Indian Nation be a county or have counties of it's own?
It is my understanding we do not have a recognized Indian Nation in PA. PA does not even recognize the Delaware Indians we banished to Oklahoma.

Do Indian Nations issue license plates?
The answer is a very definite, "YES". I see them quite frequently. They all appear very similar to those from standard States. Instead of "Oklahoma" they read something like "Cherokee Nation".
Is A Sovereign Nation A State ?
> Do Indian Nations issue license plates?
Each of the tribes in Oklahoma issues license plates. There are dozens of different ones, seems like.
Native Nations' Vehicle Plates
Oklahoma has, by far, the most Native Nations that issue vehicle plates of any of the 50 States:
Absentee-Shawnee Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma
Apache Tribe of Oklahoma
Caddo Nation of Oklahoma
Cherokee Nation
Cheyenne-Arapaho Tribes
Citizen Potawatomi Nation
Comanche Nation
Delaware Nation
Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma
Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma
Kaw Nation
Kickapoo Tribe of Oklahoma
Kiowa Indian Tribe of Oklahoma
Miami Tribe of Oklahoma
Modoc Tribe of Oklahoma
Muscogee Creek Nation
Osage Nation
Ottawa Tribe of Oklahoma
Otoe-Missouria Tribe of Indians
Pawnee Nation of Oklahoma
Peoria Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma
Ponca Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma
Quapaw Tribe of Indians
Sac and Fox Nation
Shawnee Tribe
Seminole Nation of Oklahoma
Seneca-Cayuga Tribe of Oklahoma
United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee Indians in Oklahoma
Wichita and Affiliated Tribes (Wichita, Keechi, Waco & Tawakonie)
Wyandotte Nation
I see these daily. But I've yet to see anyone driving these vehicles that remotely resemble anyone with Native American features...
PS - Paul, don't be too remorseful. The Delaware Nation down here doesn't recognize the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. I guess boaf y'alls even. 😉
