As part of a larger team, it looks like I am going to be tasked with writing the surveying and subsurface utility engineering sections of the new District of Columbia Department of Transportation Engineering and Design Manual.

So, if you work with a state or large city DOT that has a pretty good survey section of their design manual, I'd be forever grateful for a link to it.

BTW - A lot of state DOT manuals have a large section of survey procedures. Since this will be for outside consultants, not in house staff what I'm looking for is standards for deliverables, mapping, control standards, etc., but not field procedures. Thanks

Jim, I don't have a link but I can send you a pdf attachment. Don't see a way to attach it to a post or via email through the site. Send me an email and I can attach it in a reply probably.

Jim, try these

from NCDOT

I did a Bing search using "gdot survey manual" and the first 2 might be what you want.

Ohio Department of Transportation, Office of CADD and Mapping Services web page should provide several resources.

The following is a pdf file of a slide presentation that may also be helpful: http://www.dot.state.oh.us/Divisions/Engineering/RealEstate/Draft/3%20Survey.pdf

ODOT Legal Description Manual http://www.dot.state.oh.us/Divisions/Engineering/RealEstate/row/ROW%20Manual/3300_Manual_0411.pdf

Design Reference Resource Center at http://www.dot.state.oh.us/drrc/Pages/default.aspx# provides links to additional ODOT references that may reference surveying requirements or be referenced by Mapping Services publications.
