I've never really considered a Utah license worth enough to try and steal or commit fraud with. You other guys must make a lot more money than most Utah licensed surveyors. And like Peter Elhert said anyone can order survey caps, I've never had them ask for proof of my license.

Most of what I'd consider fraud is done by licensees. A LS can stamp their number all over it with pride.

Melt them all down and cast a coffee table in the shape of one big cap. Tell folks your saving it to set on your final survey and meanwhile would they mind using a coaster when they place their drink on it?

Just because I'm paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get me.

Landfills and scrap yards are about the same around here...it's a free for all after something hits the ground.

Most scrap yards try and sell what they can directly from their yard before actually scrapping something.

I go there to buy old metal fence posts...culverts...pipe, ect. ect.

Just dig a hole and bury them in your yard if you are really concerned about it.

Take them to a metal fab shop that does.

Take them to the scrap yard after defacing them in an identifiable manner so you will know if one ever shows up again. It is too much work to remove the number, but perhaps not too much work to put a line through it with a chisel. One blow per disk.

There are plenty to chose from but the best would be those partly or totally filled with water. Whenever someone comes up missing for what might be highly suspicious reasons that's where they begin their search. Jimmy Hoffa might be in one of them.

I worked a parking garage rehab in St. Louis. Chipping out a beam I hit a small pocket, out falls a wallet. As a joke I opened it and said 'crap. James Hoffa.' My union buddies were less than amused...

Shelby,
Whatever you do, keep a few, in a box, or bag, for your grandkids, to play surveyor with!

Hey Shelby, I still have a couple of your washers floating around my truck from the Hood Canal job.

Anyone thought about burying them in your backyard? Just dig a hole and dump them together with your tomato seeds. If it's your lot then no one would dig them up without your knowledge. If you are no longer alive then it doesn't matter right?
