Todays "gold" was a section corner. We finally hit dirt, but our arms weren't long enough to go much deeper than that. Wish I would've brought in my shop vac! The first pic shows the chisel down about 0.5' in asphalt. The second pic shows our final depth of about 1.6'.

What you are doing is a lot of work.
I have gone to DeWalt SDS 20v drill with concrete and rock bits with extensions to break up the hard surfaces and an auger to pull it out of the hole and a 20v vacuum.

I see settlement marks in the asphalt where someone else dug the monument up.
They made a larger hole than you.
