Talk about a brain fart. I drive 80 miles to finish up a topo locating a whole bunch of trees. Get 5600 robot set up, go to hook up rod & TSC2 gizmo.
Some dumb a$$ left the power rod battery in the office. Robots don't work without the prism assembly on full juice. I thought of going reflectorless, and maybe could have got something done, but was so pi$$ed off at the party chief, I-man, office manager, and even the bookeeper (those are all me) that I just said "...eff it, it's Friday, and I'm now thirsty..."
Have a great weekend all you Cheersleggers. Not sure which song I like better. Lets have a poll.....;-)

Haha...best laugh I have had today!!
I always kept an extra power cable in the truck in case the power rod battery died (or in your case, didn't make it out of the office). You can run the cable from the top port on the radio to the power port on the 360 prism. Has come in handy many times.
This one would work.

No but I drove all the way back to the office about an hour and a half then as I pulled into the parking spot my defective brain reminded me that I needed to pick up a GPS receiver left running to get a file for OPUS. That OPUS observation was quite a bit longer than planned.
Thanks Pseudo, I may look into that. With my old 5600 I had the long range prism that used normal batteries (C cell I think), and that would have worked too. Nowadays those are in the $1,700 range. But I cheaped out this go around & stuck with normal 360 provided setup. My GPS will not work in those 100' tall pine trees they need located, or I'd have done that.
I think about a year or so ago I told a story about how I showed up on a site all ready for some robotic construction staking, all good to go. Only problem is I took the wrong yellow Trimble box. The one with all my GPS in it. Mr Robot was still peaceably resting on the shelf in the office.
Being solo is tough sometimes.....
I liked it better, back in the day, that the only thing that needed a battery in it when you left the office was the truck.

I'm on it!

True, my power rod has never worked. I just connect a cable from the radio to the 360 prism. I don't have any problems. I often wondered what that power rod is for.
I carry my power rod everywhere I go and have since birth.:-D
I have forgotten something absolutely critical about a dozen times in 25 years. Only once was it the gun. Once it was the prism. Probably most frequent was the research notes.
I still carry mine too Cow, but at our age, chances ain't too good that it still works. :'(
