Howdy folks! I'm aware in FL the requirements for reporting by form within 90 days any corrections or observations regarding a change or obliteration on a section corner monument to the state however I am not aware of requirements and a repository for quarter section corners. What is the rule on these and is there a source beyond LABINS.ORG to find such information? Thanks for helping a newb if you can!
I'm not familiar with Florida but I would be very surprised if the requirement didn't apply to both Section and Quarter Section corners.
I am not aware of requirements and a repository for quarter section corners.
Maybe quarter section corners are not considered as important as section corners. I work for Orange County Public Works, survey section, here in Orlando, FL. I'm out in the field on a weekly basis performing plat checks for the county. I'll ask the county surveyor about requirements and a repository for quarter section corners. You might want to check with the Florida Department of Natural Resources. Certified corner records (CCRs) are filed with them. Welcome to these forums.
Edit
I've attached the file I think you're referring to. It states, "Since 1977, the state has required that professional surveyors and mappers file a Certified Corner Record for every section, quarter section or other public land survey corner established by the original cadastral surveys." I don't think the Florida Department of Natural Resources exists anymore and the Department of Environmental Protection, Bureau of Surveying and Mapping is now the repository for CCRs.
@field-dog Thanks for responding! I have that same instruction manual PDF as well. Ive searched through the files I can find on Labins and found what is there but who knows, I may have missed something. I really appreciate your asking the county surveyor as well! Just let me know if you hear of any leads on repositories. Thanks again!
