Cut the damned fence, Cal Fire would have an entire strike team (including vehicles) through that fence in about 2 minutes.

CalFire would also be compensating the land owner for the damage when the operations were winding down.
Call the land owner and request access.

Whew! I'm glad those things weren't invented when I (and you too) were teenagers. I'd probably be dead or incarcerated. :p

I've been checkin' into these things. I've decided body cams are out due to their inherent qualities of only recording what ever is in front of them. I've decided a good pair of recording sunglasses are in order. And yes they also only record what is in front of them...but at least they're mounted on a 'swivel'.

There has to be a gate somewhere doesn't there?

Actually, there doesn't - we have Elk fences like that here (usually 12' tall) with no gates. Fish & Wildlife Dept. puts them up to keep elk from browsing on young trees.

Well guys, you've been taken in by Kent again. It is so easy for him to pull your chains.

If you recall from a post earlier in this cenyury he posted a photo of himself and his new Acme fence surmounting shoes:

And then a couple years back Oregon's own John Minor visited Kent and posted the following series of photos showing Kent using the shoes in action:

So let's cut the crap Kent and get back to serious survey discussions.

I think that if you consider the motivation of the person who erected the barrier, and do your best to promulgate her intentions in that erection (;)) you'll be OK. Get some 12 ga. wire and some of these:

and get the shot.

A bumper jack or a farm tractor jack will pick up a fence far enough to crawl under.

Pipe insulators can be found but "Pool Noodles" are in every Walmart in the state...

That's a good thought. The real purpose is just to keep pants from getting hung on the wire as leg swings over the wire. Climbing the fence isn't usually a problem aside from figuring out how to transfer equipment from one side of the fence to the other. Getting stuck on the wire definitely is a problem, though. I'm going to try the Mexican blanket I carry in the truck first, but if that turns out to be difficult to extricate from the barbed top strands, Plan B will be pipe insulation or noodle.

Combined with a shallow excavation.

A properly tightened netwire fence will not allow significant movement even when the staples are removed from several posts. The last one I encountered had each post set in concrete with a fastener around the larger bottom wire that was tack welded to the pipe post. There wouldn't have been more than an inch or two of rise possible. The outriggers with three strands of barb wire leaning towards my side of the fence did not look inviting whatsoever. I set a reference monument on line 11.00 feet west of the corner.

There is nothing better to impede progress than encountering a properly built fence.

i would hope that would be purpose 1-A. Which is to say: I've contemplated a new tetanus shot a couple of times over the years subsequent to... taking a seat on barbed wire subsequent to a lower strand failing. Come home from work once or twice with blood on the inseam of your britches and the britches themselves don't seem to matter that much.

The proper Latin medical term is scissa scroto....or simply "torn goodies" for those that don't want to look up a Latin medical term. Please don't ask me how I know. There are some things I've learned in an almost 50 year career that I would just as soon forget.
