I have been using Carlson for years and have recently installed the latest version.
When I import my points from a TDS .cr5 file they now appear in my drawing with new layers for just about every description I have entered in the field. The older version just puts all of the points on the PNTS layer. I am sure that this is related to "field to finish" which I don't use, as most of my work is boundaries. How do I turn this feature off? I have looked at all of the usual settings and don't see anything that would change this feature.

From the command line type "ptsetup". This will bring up the default settings for points. On the lower right side of the window under the heading "Separate Layers" make sure that the button for "None" is marked. Re-inserting points using "Draw-Locate Points" with the "Erase Duplicates" box checked should put all of your points on the "PNTS" layer then you can use the purge command to remove all of the extra pnts-whatever layers.

OK, I figured it out. When you go to the "Draw-Locate Points" box uncheck the "Layer by Description" box and everything goes back to normal.
