Haven't ordered any for quite a while,,,,,,,,GULP!!
Client really wants only brass, I still have 26 but after that............
I don't even see brass on the Berntsen site, just bronze and aluminum.

Bronze would be better, more durable.... but they are darned expensive, at Berntsen anyway. Maybe I did not read carefully, perhaps their price includes some artwork or something.

Always read the fine print*

I use http://www.shopeconcrete.com/cat_moreproducts.html&apos ;">shope concrete in Puyallup.
They make a nice concrete monument with a brass cap.
You have to provide your own dimple...

mmm, that looks a bit over the top,,,,,,;)
Wonder what the charge for it is, we get a similar monument from a "local" supplier for DOT work, they weight 90lbs., my back hurts just thinking about them:(
No dimples for these, they all will be stenciled "by the book"

It's been a while since I bought one; I can look into it, if you'd like.:plumbbob::gammon:

No thanks, this isn't the job for concrete mons, it's a rod and cap type of experience. But at +$40 a cap,,,,,,yikes. And that's just for the cap.
You may be surprised just how expensive that one will be today. I know I had some sticker shock. I've been grabbing the brass caps off and on for a number of years since there were so many left-overs.
But thanks again Radar, if we get another concrete DOT job, I'll get back with you......
I'm not sure that the distinction between brass and bronze is sharply defined. Tell the client you can get them bronze.

Why should you worry about the cost? Client wants it, client will have to pay. Client may change its mind when you tell them the cost, but you aren't paying it.

Actually, I am paying for them, I will charge them out as they get used which will take some time. It's not a little bill, if 100 of them will be charged out to me to start with at +$60 per cap/rod it gets expensive quickly.
But worry? I'm not going to worry, just surprised by the cost jump since last time. And I'm going to try to only order as close to exactly the right amount, however that's going to be difficult to predict.

Client special request. Order them, bill client. Why make it your problem?

Bronze is a different alloy, no lead or tin I believe, harder and more corrosion resistant.
Brass is a big no no on salt water boats, it turns to swiss cheese quickly and will fail, but Bronze does not. Bronze is much harder too, and it is more happy being in contact with aluminum and other metals.

Check with Rob Shook in Casper. I used to buy all my paint, stakes, lath and brass caps from him when I was in business. Good prices and the best stakes & lath you could find. He runs an ad in Wyoming Lines & Points.
By "rod" do you mean rebar? If the client cares enough for brass you should give them a better monument. Put the brass on a pipe or a Feno spike.

No, I don't use rebar
$4,000 to figure out where the monument goes.
But can't spend more than $2 for the monument?
As I say above, It's been a while since I've order these monuments. The price in our list is $26 for setting one, I have to up it to $65 now, I've been reading a bit about some producer issues worldwide, maybe it's all starting to work it's way down to the consumer.
