I have just downloaded from the App Store a free app called "FindAControl" by Critigen. Really nice and simple interface to locate NGS h+v control. Only works on Apple devices right now; wish it had an Android version.
I also paid for and really like the "m48+" by Markus Gonser. Its pretty scaled down in size, but still has all the functionality of the old HP series calculators.
If anyone has a favorite app they know of, sure would like to hear about it.
Thanks.
I also enjoy the Droid HP 48 app. I tried one that called itself a magnetic locator...it sucked. Can't go wrong with "Fruit Ninja".:-D

Actualy there is an android version of this app. I've had it for quite a while now. The one I really like though is by a company called metzger+willard (sp).
It works inside google earth for android. It's called ESmobile for Earth Survey mobile.
It's really a subset of their regular Earth Survey Tools for Google Earth.
Here's the Link
It is available on Android. I've been using it for a few months.

i41CX
Beyond amazing...
Actually, I have the Metal Detector app that is part of the Smart Tools apps and it works pretty good. It doesn't replace the Schonstedt, but works good in a pinch when you have an approximate location to look. It saved me from walking back to the truck a few times when I forgot the Schonstedt.
I'm always looking for an app that allows me to mark a location and then compute a bearing(s) and distance(s) from that point for rough recon. Nobody designed one that I like. How hard is it to make your own app?
App for HP 41CX ?
With COGO Program.
Any hints ?
Thank you.
Derek
Now that is really handy.
This must have just come available.
I like the Quad and Rings features.
Really good find!
App for HP 41CX ?
This is a great APP. I have it loaded on both Iphone and Ipad. I keep the survey module installed all the time and have experimented with several of the other modules. I wish I could get the Engin Knowles Senne Astro Module for it. IT would be interesting to take Solar Observations on Azimuth Marks while doing LONG Static GPS observations, then compare the to what our later GPS observations provide.

I went to the page and tried to follow the instructions, with no luck. They say to "tap the tool name" (ESMobile), but it's not a link. The other tools on the page operate as links. Any clues as to what I'm doing wrong?
App for HP 41CX ?
Not sure what hints you need. It is a full-fledged HP 41CX emulator that runs every application pac, routine and ROM ever written or made for the 41... Its almost unnerving how close it is to the real thing! The author of this not only knows the 41 inside-out, he knows the iPhone inside-out also.
Looking for a good android app for keeping up with time and billing a job. Any suggestions.
I like the AutoCAD for mobile app, the Surveyor compass, Google Earth and the HP48 app.
I also splurged and spent $5 for Torque. I bought an OBDII bluetooth adapter for my cars so I can find and erase error codes and do some basic diagnostic work on my own cars. It has been very useful.
Guy at work told me about this one that I use a lot - Mag Lite or Mag Lite Pro. Turns your Iphone camera into a magnifying glass with a very bright light.
Actually, they do have the android. They came out with that version first...

Hey that is great! I somehow missed it. I use an Galaxy Tab 2 and that will look better than on the Iphone I'm sure. Will check it out when I get home. Thanks. :good:

Now that sounds very interesting. I'm going to check that one out too! Thanks. :good:
