The times have certainly changed... when I started in this business it was commonplace for the company to ice down a couple cases of beer at three o'clock on Fridays. Those days are long gone.

It wasn't uncommon on hot summer Fridays (pay day) for me to pick up a six pack of bottled beer at lunch and put it in the truck's water jug with a fresh bag of ice.?ÿ I passed out the paychecks in the parking lot when we arrived back at the office.?ÿ We would all (several crews) sit around under the elm tree at the back fence and sip a cold brew while we discussed the week.?ÿ

Nobody really thought much about it.?ÿ But you're right; those days are long gone.

I had never even heard of a beer leg until this thread.

I guess we were hard core, we always called them "whiskey legs".

@dms330

When I originally named this website (beerleg.com), I had been doing a good bit of research trying to find the name. During that process, I remember reading that the "whiskey leg" came first (in the late 1800's to early 1900's, I believe). When beer became the drink of choice, "beer leg" became the replacement. I don't remember where I read that and I can't say how true it is, but it certainly makes sense to me. ?????ÿ
