So I've been doing this somewhat complex boundary and topo on a site that has some major ponding at the entrance. I asked the attorney repeatedly, in writing, for the ADOT right-of-way deed. Fourth request he sends me an old title report and says that is all they have. I do some research and produce the survey drawing. It went out this morning. Then, and only then, does he produce the right-of-way deed which apparently nobody else knew about. Completely changes everything so I'm irked. Currently having a glass of wine with some Triscuits drizzled with olive oil and some salt sprinkled on. Almost makes it all better.

More pleasant survey adventure yesterday. Modern large building, only the name on the front, no clue to what they do. I walk in to announce my presence and am floored by the showroom crowded with perfectly restored racing vehicles of all descriptions. Then he shows me the large room next door with tons of expensive sports cars which they restore, and I am impressed. Back story: Six decades ago I had a 1958 Corvette convertible, the finest car I've ever owned. First wife made me get rid of it - she didn't like the clutch. I've been lusting after a '58 for the past several years, and the grandkids have encouraged me to get one. Sure enough, he has a '58 Corvette and walks me over. Interesting psychological effect here - it is a much larger car than I remember. Never expected that.?ÿ

You had me at wine.?ÿ You definitely lost me at Triscuits drizzled with olive oil and salt.?ÿ I came back around at the notion of you owning a '58 Corvette.

50 years ago I knew a fellow that collected Corvettes.?ÿ At the time he had about a dozen.?ÿ Different year models but they were all white convertibles with red leather interiors.

When the DeTomaso Pantera was produced for Ford he bought one.?ÿ He flew to Miami, accepted delivery and drove it back to South Georgia.?ÿ He then put it up on blocks, removed the wheels, pulled the spark plugs and filled the pistons with oil.?ÿ I don't know if he is still alive, much less if he still has it, but I wonder what it would be worth today.

One take away from the 58 Vette was the size of the steering wheel. No power steering in those beasts. Schatzie would approve.?ÿ

He then put it up on blocks, removed the wheels, pulled the spark plugs and filled the pistons with oil.

Pedantic comment:?ÿ about the only way to fill a piston with oil is to turn it upside-down.?ÿ More likely he filled the cylinders with oil.

Hey Bruce,

Since this '58 Corvette doesn't seem like the right one for you, keep looking.

As for me, my favorite (but very unreliable) vehicle was a 1963 Jaguar XKE convertible. It was great fun in the days before cell phones when one of the Lucas electrical components failed. Usually, it was the fuel pump. After saying a prayer, I'd grab my trusty copper hammer (for the wheel knock-offs) to bang on the gas tank in the faint hope that it would sputter back to life!

Hiya Gene. I've been reminded that I have an unreliably sore right shoulder triggered by extending my arm, so turning the Corvette steering wheel or shifting will be a problem.

Here is a mystery for my peers. Sore right shoulder, sudden pain if I extend my arm, but going surveying all day is fine, and pounding pins completely relieves the sore shoulder - until I extend the arm that evening then I yelp with the pain. I've been to see doc and get an injection. Didn't help.

@bruce-small?ÿ

I recommend that you see a shoulder specialist. As the subject of four shoulder surgeries and recipient of three shoulder replacements I suggest you get the best specialist you can find. I can offer a referral if you are interested.

Been there, to a really sharp doc who has done several surgeries on my wife's arthritic hands, but he didn't offer me much, so in the meantime I just have to remember no extending the arm.

@bruce-small Have you tried Prolotherapy injection.?ÿ I had one for a couple of tears to my rotator cuff and it seemed to help, but I do need another one now.?ÿ?ÿ

?ÿ

But I also had a half of shot of fluid removed from my bursasack(sp?) in shoulder.?ÿ That seemed to help within a week or 2 reduce the pain for any extended sudden movement for my arm and do not suffer from the shooting pain.?ÿ

The shoulder is probably the most complicated joint in the entire body given the full range of motion and sports injuries to shoulders are common and surgeries involve long and painful rehab. A sports medicine specialist with lots of experience with these issues can do a range of tests and narrow down where the issue is and recommend the best treatment. They helped me avoid surgery for a number of partial tears in my rotator and bicep attachment from last skiing injury and the shoulder is now much better following physical therapy.
