I've recently moved to a smartphone and it has become another important "tool in the toolbox". Thanks to all for the previous thread on "favorite apps", many of them are loaded and being put to use.
What I have not been able to find, however, is a simple "traversing" app for recon, etc. The geocaching apps are too cumbersome. Also, I do not need to share my location with friends on Facebook or have it give me turn-by-turn navigation to the nearest bicycle repair shop.
One simple app I've found (Bearing) allows me to store a current location and then gives me an azimuth and distance away from that point. Simple yet useful.
Does anyone have an app they use for rough measuring/recon. I'm running on Android.
Thanks.
not sure if this is just what you are looking for, but Thodolite Pro is a camera app that will do some calculations for you based on geotagging your pics. It's handy for a lot of other survey related stuff as well.
do you have "findAControl"?? that's a great one too.
I too have been looking for good apps. Just got an iPhone and trying to find ways to make my day easier with new devices. I have been looking for the thread "favorite apps" and have not come across it yet. How far back was it or what did they suggest? Thanks
Take a look at www.quickcogo.com No gps yet but some useful surveying routines for a reasonable price.
